In 1995, brass plated steel coins of 50 rubles were struck. Coins of such type do not have interrupted reeded edge, instead just plain edge. It is not known why 50 rubles were the only denomination stuck in that year or other years are not distinguishable. | |

In 2006, both Moscow mint and St. Petersburg decided to replace the alloyed copper zinc 10 and 50 kopeks to plated steel. It is still unclear which is rarer but both seem to be common at the moment.
